SMART the Olympic Way

The formerly cumbersome process of shipping Olympian health records is now made easy. Most Olympians have more health records than the average person, so it has been a huge ordeal to transport the documents to a foreign country. Now the information is simply a “click” away. According to this TIME article, “the US Olympic team will be traveling lighter summer, by several thousand pounds.”

These records are now in electronic form which makes for better accessibility. The new program also allows them to research solutions for injuries based on the experiences of other athletes. The new medical record system exhibits SMART strategy through feedback analysis, reporting and translation. Dr. Bill Moreau, who is the managing director of sports medicine at the United States Olympic Committee, said, “we can start to identify best practices, and that’s really exciting.”
